Converting your foreign driver license into a danish one

Getting a danish driver license (kørekort) is the simplest way to get some form of danish document with your picture on it. It might turn out to be more useful than you expect.
Given the fact that you probably own already a driver license, to convert it into a danish one should not be lenghty, complex nor expensive. This particularly applies to owners of european driver licenses.

You will have to go to the local Citizen Center and ask for an "Ansøgning om kørekort ændringer" form.
You will have to bring 4 mug shots, your passport, your driver license, the immigration papers that attest your residence in Denmark, your CPR card. You will be given a form to fill and an envelope that has to be passed onto your physician.

Then you will have to take an appointment with your physician which will give you a quick health and eye sight check up. The physician will fill a paper and will seal it within the envelope that you must not open. You will have to pay for this check up document.

You will have to go back to the Citizen Center with the physician envelope and finally pay 260kr. to get your new driver license. Be aware that your old driver license will be kept by the danish administration.

A danish driver license is valid until you turn 70 years old and in all european countries.
